Ferona | IVF success key

Although the most effective method for the achievement of pregnancy, in vitro fertilization is not omnipotent and is not a "magic wand" in struggle with infertility.

Multiple pregnancies and single embryo transfer

Multiple pregnancies represent the presence of more than one fetus in the cavum of the uterus, most often it comes to twin pregnancy, but also to triple pregnancy - triplets, while the higher-order multiple births are rare. Spontaneously, multiple pregnancies occur in about 1.5% of all pregnancies, while after IVF process, this occurred in a far higher percentage (over 30%), as a consequence of the return of several embryos in the uterus. The main classification of these pregnancies is monozygotic (monozygotic) or dizygotic pregnancy. In monozygotic pregnancies, which are far less common, there is a division of the embryo, so we have genetically identical babies; while in dizygotic pregnancy comes to genetically different children, resulting from the fertilization of 2 egg cells. It is important to note that even though people are unaware, these pregnancies carry many health risks for both the baby and the mother, so they should be avoided if possible. In fact, all diseases during pregnancy are far more often, as well as the Premature birth, cerebral palsy other problems concerning children in these pregnancies compared to singletons. Although there is a genetic predisposition for the occurrence of twins in a particular family, usually these pregnancies are due to a fact that there is a greater chance of success in the procedures of In vitro fertilization if more than one embryo is transferred back in the uterus (mostly 3 in our environment). The success of In vitro fertilization is important for patients and doctors, but not at any cost, so it is considered that by In vitro fertilization only one embryo at a time shall be returned, while others may be successfully and safely frozen and then used in some of the following cycle. This procedure is called SET (single embryo transfer) and represents the standard, which we should all strive for the safety of mother and children. If we apply a good system of cryopreservation of embryos, this form of treatment shall not reduce the chance of success, or achievement of pregnancies. Experts in this field, including our team, are constantly urging all social instances to enable larger funding of IVF by the state, and in that way this system could be implemented for all patients as soon as possible. Also, these pregnancies must be treated in a specific manner, with respect to all the details of this condition, and it is advisable that these pregnancies are led by professionals who have particular experience in their treatment.

Unsuccessful attempts of IVF - explanation and examination

The failed attempts of In vitro fertilization is a source of huge frustration for both patients and for the entire IVF team. Although the chance of success of IVF cycles is good and reaches over 50% in certain situations, this procedure is still not a "magic wand" and a certain percentage of patients will fail the first or even several attempts.
